Larrakia Traditional Owners of Kenbi giving evidence before Aboriginal Land Commissioner, Justice Peter Gray at sites of cultural significance in the Kenbi Land Claim in 1995.

The different Larrakia groups are examined by the Aboriginal Land Commissioner in the Kenbi Report and determined as "Traditional Owners" in accordance with the Land Rights Act.
The Larrakia community is complex and diverse, which contributes to the dynamics and cultural richness.

The Kenbi (Cox Peninsula) Land Claim No. 37 Report (see below) is a traditional Aboriginal land claim, made pursuant to the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (‘the Land Rights Act’). It is described as "the most complex land claim in the history of the Land Rights Act"

This is primarily because of the different
Larrakia claimant groups within the
Larrakia community and other interest groups recognised as having legal interest in Kenbi.
